Shockwave therapy

Modern technology in physiotherapy
We are pleased to say that all three clinics are now offering Shockwave Therapy. This is a form of electrotherapy, that in recent times has emerged as a leading choice in the management of chronic tendon problems; such as plantar fasciitis (heel pain), tennis elbow, achilles pain, pain in the knee tendon (jumper's knee) and pain in shoulder tendons.

The evidence shows that it is successful in breaking up scar tissue and calcifications to encourage the body to re-start the 'stalled' healing process, and is proving to be more effective in the resolution of these problems.

Book an appointment with one of our chartered physiotherapists to discuss if this is a suitable treatment option for you and your condition.

Acupuncture

Equipment for exercise
Acupuncture provides benefits for people with:
  • Pain
  • Stiffness
  • Muscle tightness
  • Balance within the body e.g. anxiety, IBS, headaches
  • Chronic back pain
Our physiotherapists are able to offer acupuncture as a stand alone treatment or as part of your physiotherapy treatment. We currently have acupuncturists at our Halstead and Haverhill clinics, Dr Victor Utti, Jennifer Lovelock and Laura Palmer all of whom are registered with the AACP, Acupuncture Association of Chartered Physiotherapists.

Pilates

Reception area of clinic
What is Pilates?
Pilates is a low impact body friendly training system which focus on core strength and mobility. Pilates can help with functional movements, balancing the body and general well being, and particularly beneficial during rehabilitation. Other benefits include weight loss, muscle toning, improved posture and flexibility.

Who is Pilates for?
Everyone, regardless of fitness level. For example, anyone wishing to improve their total fitness, posture and appearance, or professional sports persons using advanced conditioning programmes to enhance performance. First time exercisers might find it a gentle introduction to exercise, whilst the keen sportsman may find it a useful cross-training method and a means to stay injury free. Its controlled approach means that it gives much longer-term results, and is especially recommended for those with back problems.

We can offer a small selection of Pilates classes in our purpose built studio at  Halstead.  With smaller classes we are able to deliver an expert, professional service, with highly skilled instructors.

For further information on class times, availability and fees, please contact the reception at the Halstead clinic on 01787 478 789.

Classes are held on Mondays, Tuesdays and Thursdays, with both morning and evening classes available. An introductory class may be recommended for beginners.

Hidden Hearing also offer a professional ear wax removal service at Braintree Physiotherapy Clinic.

Is your hearing being affected by ear wax?

Hearing loss, pain or discomfort in your ears could all be signs of ear wax build-up in the ear canal. Ear wax is relatively innocuous but in some cases, it can negatively impact your hearing and quality of life.

Treating excessive and problematic ear wax is an important part of maintaining healthy ears, optimal hearing, and overall well-being.

If you’re suffering from ear problems, we provide a simple procedure to have your wax removed that could improve your hearing almost immediately.

What happens during my wax removal appointment?

Your Hidden Hearing practitioner will safely remove any ear wax that could be causing you problems.

The practitioner will use micro-suction, which involves inserting a low-pressure suction probe inside your ears that acts like a tiny vacuum cleaner. The probe will gently remove excess wax and debris.

Micro-suction is the latest and safest technology for the removal of ear wax. The procedure is effective, painless, and could help you experience improved hearing in a few moments.

After removing your ear wax, your practitioner will carry out a standard hearing assessment. This is a routine check to make sure your hearing is working as it should. If we find anything that we think requires further hearing health assessment, we’ll make an appointment for you to see a Hidden Hearing care expert.

How to book an appointment?

Clinics are booked directly with Hidden Hearing and take place at Braintree.

Prices start from £60, for both ears.

We recommend that you use Earol® for 5 days leading up to your appointment. Earol® is an olive oil-based spray that will help soften your wax, making it easier to remove.

Book your appointment by calling Hidden Hearing on 0800 740 8286.

If you need to cancel your appointment

If you need to cancel your appointment, you must give Hidden Hearing at least 2 clear working days’ notice otherwise your appointment will be non-refundable.
